Planting Patterns
A free, email-based CoverAll printing challenge

What to Expect
Spring is a season of beginnings.
Garden planning. Longer days. New ideas asking for attention.
Planting Patterns is a free, low-pressure, 7-day email challenge designed to help you slow down and explore pattern through different types of printmaking. Whether you’re using my CoverAll kit, a potato, or even a potato masher - you can print on paper, fabric, or something bigger — whatever tickles your fancy!
No perfection required. No finishing required.
Just curiosity, repetition, and a willingness to try.
❋ Day 1 — Preparing the Ground
We’ll get ready: choosing colors, setting up a printing area, and gathering materials. Think of this as clearing space before planting.
❋ Day 2 — First Marks
Low-stakes printing using everyday tools and found objects. This is about getting ink on the page and getting comfortable with repetition.
❋ Day 3 — Building Pattern
We’ll explore simple shapes and rhythm — cutting paper shapes, layering, and noticing how small marks start to relate to each other.
❋ Day 5 — Organic & Unruly
Working with less-predictable materials: fruits, vegetables, string, stems, leaves. Letting go of control and seeing what happens.
❋ Day 4 — Bringing It Into Daily Life
Printing on paper or fabric — dish towels, napkins, clothes, or whatever you have on hand. Functional, playful, imperfect is encouraged.
❋ Day 6 — Go Bigger (or Go Back)
IF your ready…Start a wall, remix a favorite idea, or repeat what you loved most.
❋ Day 7 — Reflecting & Sharing
I will wrap up the challenge by sharing our creations! Be sure to e-mail or tag me throughout the week - so I can relish in your lovely work & share it!
Do I need the CoverAll kit?
Nope. The challenge is designed to work with or without it.
Some prompts are inspired by the CoverAll flower + stem blocks, which make it easy to jump in and experiment without overthinking. If you already have the kit — or decide to grab one — I’ll share ideas for using it throughout the week.
If you’d like to print along with the kit or pick up ink ahead of time, you’re welcome to plan a little so you’re ready when the challenge begins. Adapting the prompts with your own supplies is always encouraged.
As a thank-you for joining the challenge, you’ll receive a 15% off code for the CoverAll kit after you register.
